Canal boat holidays are a welcome change from the norm for many people. More and more people – both families and groups of friends are discovering what a great time can be had on a different kind of holiday – a holiday afloat on one of the UK’s many canals and rivers. These waterways run up and down and across the country like the arteries of the nation they once represented. Consequently, you are never far away from somewhere that is either scenic or historically interesting. The ironic thing is, you could have a terrific holiday, no more than a stone’s throw from your home area because the waterways run so close to so many towns and villages in the UK, without being too obvious to passers by and are a world away from modern life. Think of a stretch of canal or river near your home and there are probably folks cruising along it now – on their holidays!
